Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Note My — the text and source-code editing application distributed by MAHTCA GLOBAL through Apple’s App Store — handles your information. It is provided alongside the Note My Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (the “Terms”), which control in the event of any inconsistency.
1. The short version
Note My does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, share, host, analyze, profile, or store your documents, files, edits, identifiers, or telemetry on servers controlled by the developer. Everything you do with Note My happens on your Mac. We have no servers that receive your content. We do not have an account system. We use no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, social-login, or tracking components, and we do not train any model on your data. Note My contains no networking code of its own; the only network activity is performed by Apple’s own system services, to establish purchases and transactions state.
To remember your choices, Note My stores your preferences, small items of application state, and a record that you accepted our agreements locally on your Mac, and a minimal convenience record of your purchase tier in your Mac’s Keychain. All of it stays on your Mac; we never see it.
2. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy applies to the Note My application for macOS as distributed by Apple on the App Store, including its Finder extension, and to any in-app purchase offered through that application. It does not cover Apple’s services (such as the App Store or your Apple Account), which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policies, nor any third-party application or service you choose to use alongside Note My.
3. Data we collect — none
For purposes of the Apple App Privacy framework, Note My declares “Data Not Collected” in every category. We do not collect contact info, health and fitness, financial info, location, sensitive info, contacts, user content (including your documents and files), browsing or search history, identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, or any other data on servers controlled by the developer. The information Note My stores on your own Mac (described in §4) is not received, accessed, or held by the developer, and is therefore not “collected” by us within the meaning of the App Privacy framework.
4. What lives on your Mac
Although we collect nothing on our servers, Note My works with information that resides on your own Mac, under your control. None of this is transmitted to us.
(a) Your documents and files. Everything you open, create, edit, or organize with Note My is stored locally on your Mac, under your control. Note My reads and writes this content only to perform the actions you request. It is never transmitted to us.
(b) App preferences and settings. Your options and choices — editor typeface and size, guides, invisibles, encoding and line-ending defaults, backup and file-monitoring behaviour, and the rest — are stored locally on your Mac.
(c) Your working library. Things you build up while using the app stay with the app, on your Mac: recorded macros, custom templates, bookmarks, learned completion suggestions, remembered file paths, and the record of your open tabs and session. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
(d) Working conveniences. To protect your work between launches, Note My may keep autosave data, crash-recovery data, optional backups, optional periodic snapshots, and a record of your open tabs and session, all stored locally on your Mac in the application’s own storage area. Recovery data is stored in an application-private format that is not intended to be readable outside Note My, so a draft protected by autosave is not left casually legible to other tools on a shared Mac. These conveniences exist for your benefit, remain on your Mac, and can be affected by your own device settings and storage; the Terms explain their best-effort nature.
(e) Consent record. To remember that you accepted our agreements (including the version and date), Note My stores that record locally on your Mac. It contains no personal information beyond the fact, version, and time of acceptance.
(f) In-app purchase entitlement records. When you make a purchase, Apple records the transaction in your Apple Account. Note My receives only the signed entitlement signal (“this user owns this product”) from Apple’s systems and uses it on your Mac to unlock features. A minimal convenience record of your current tier is kept in your Mac’s Keychain so the app can present the correct plan immediately at launch. We do not receive payment details, billing information, your Apple ID, your name, or your email.
(g) On-device analysis. To help you as you edit — detecting a document’s language or encoding, offering completions, comparing files, identifying invisible characters — Note My analyzes your documents on your Mac. This analysis happens entirely on your Mac; results are not transmitted to us.
(h) Your clipboard. Note My touches the clipboard only when you copy, cut, or paste. It does not read, scan, or monitor your clipboard in the background, at launch, or at any other time — including the optional launch setting that opens a fresh document ready for pasting, which prepares a page without looking at what you may have copied.
5. Permissions Note My requests, and why
Note My runs in Apple’s application sandbox and works with the files you choose. It does not request Screen Recording, Camera, Microphone, Location, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, your photo or media library, Bluetooth, motion & fitness, health data, or cross-app tracking (no advertising identifier).
(a) Files you open. Note My can read and write only the files and folders you open, drag in, or save to — access is granted by macOS per file or folder through the standard open and save dialogs, Finder, or drag and drop, and remembered by the system so your tabs can be restored.
(b) Finder extension. Note My includes an optional Finder extension that adds items such as “Open in Note My” to Finder’s context menu. It passes the files you choose to the app and does nothing else; you can disable it at any time in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
6. What Apple may see (not us)
Some operations involve Apple’s services, where Apple — not MAHTCA GLOBAL — processes the information under Apple’s own policies: (a) In-app purchases are processed by Apple; Apple is the merchant of record. (b) System diagnostics, if you have enabled sharing with app developers in System Settings, may send Apple aggregated, anonymised reports; these contain no personal data, the setting is off by default and controlled by you, and Note My does not require or rely on them. (c) Device backups (Time Machine, or any backup service you use) are governed by your settings and their providers’ policies, not by us. (d) App Store analytics provide the developer aggregated, anonymised statistics containing no personal data.
7. No third-party services
Note My does not embed, link, or call analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, attribution, social-login, tracking, fingerprinting, or behavioural-profiling components, or any backend servers operated by MAHTCA GLOBAL. We do not use your documents or any other data to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, our own or anyone else’s.
8. Privacy roles — who is responsible for what
Note My operates on your Mac. Because MAHTCA GLOBAL never sees or holds your documents or files, MAHTCA GLOBAL does not act as a “controller” or “processor” of that content within the meaning of the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, or equivalent data-protection laws. When you use Note My to open, edit, transform, or share content — including any personal data of yourself or of other persons that appears in your documents, such as names, messages, addresses, or credentials — you act as the person determining the purposes and means of that processing on your own device, and you are solely responsible for handling that data lawfully.
9. Children
Note My is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to use Note My, or older where your jurisdiction requires (including 16 under Article 8 of the EU GDPR for residents of Romania and several other EEA Member States). We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. Because nothing is transmitted to us, there is no children’s data for us to hold, delete, or report.
10. International users
Note My is distributed worldwide via Apple’s App Store. Because your documents and files do not leave your Mac, no cross-border transfer of that content takes place between you and MAHTCA GLOBAL. You remain subject to the data-protection law of your country of residence in your own use of the application, including any obligations you may have to third parties whose personal data appears in your documents.
11. Your rights, and how to exercise them
Because your content stays on your Mac, the most effective way to exercise data-protection rights is to manage your device directly: your documents are already on your Mac, where you can view, copy, export, or delete them; the app’s own working data (preferences, autosaves, backups, consent record) is removed by deleting the app and its container; and you can disable the Finder extension in System Settings or uninstall the app entirely. Because MAHTCA GLOBAL holds no personal data of yours, requests to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, object to, or transfer your personal data must be carried out by you on your device; we are generally unable to act on such requests because the underlying data does not exist on our systems. If you believe a data-protection right has been infringed by MAHTCA GLOBAL, contact help@notemy.app; in Romania you may also complain to the ANSPDCP (www.dataprotection.ro), and consumers elsewhere to their local supervisory authority.
12. Security
Note My runs inside the application sandbox enforced by Apple, and its crash-recovery data is stored in an application-private format. We have no servers that hold your documents or files, which means we have no server-side attack surface for your content. No software can guarantee freedom from error or from data loss, and the security measures described here do not alter the best-effort nature of the app’s conveniences described in the Terms. You are responsible for securing your device, keeping macOS up to date, managing access to your files, maintaining backups, and controlling who has physical or account access to your device. If we become aware of a security issue in Note My that could affect you, we will publish a notice and a fix through the App Store and, where required by applicable law, notify relevant supervisory authorities.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in Note My, applicable law, Apple’s requirements, or our practices. When we update it, the Effective Date and Version will change, and the updated policy will be made available within Note My and at its published location. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you before it takes effect. If you do not accept an update, your remedy is to stop using and delete Note My.
14. Trader information & language
MAHTCA GLOBAL, Bechetului, Nr. 26, Malu Mare, Dolj, Romania; Romanian Trade Register: J16/663/2018; VAT / CUI: 39070729; contact: help@notemy.app. This Privacy Policy is provided in English. Translations may be made available for convenience; if there is a conflict, the English version controls except where applicable law requires otherwise.
15. App Privacy Label declaration
MAHTCA GLOBAL has declared, in App Store Connect, that Note My collects no data of any category and does not use data for tracking. The “App Privacy” section on the Note My App Store listing reflects this declaration, and this Privacy Policy is the source of truth for it.
